With the release of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA4) only days away now, gamers may be wondering which console is getting the better end of the deal when it comes to the two titans. We believe that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will be the console that will enable the game to really show its full potential. Below we have listed 4 things that we think will make GTA best on 360.
- Xbox Live - With the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live system without a doubt the best online available for consoles, Grand Theft Auto players will be able to take the full capabilities of Xbox Live into the game with them. Xbox Live’s communication system is also another reason that GTA will be best on the 360. The ability to message your friends over Live, MSN Messenger, and Xbox.com enables players to organize alot more fluidly compared to the Playstation 3 system. However, we may see the added features of Playstations Home on the PS3 version of the game, which could help Sony’s advancing online network, The PSN, to make its mark in GTA IV.
- GamerScores and Achievements - Xbox Lives’ GamerScore feature allows gamers to compare scores outside of any leaderboard. This will allow sad gamers to walk into school/work and brag about completing 100 Taxi Missions without having the class/office grouch saying that you’re lying.
- Custom Soundtracks - Most of us on the older GTA games have found ourselves getting bored of listening to Talk Fm’s conversations multiple times over. This is where the Xbox 360’s custom soundtrack ability can really show itself off. But again, the Playstation 3 systems users have a way of getting around this via Rockstar’s Custom Soundtrack system that we’ve seen on the PSP.
- Epic downloadable content - With Microsoft paying Take2 a hell-of-alot for EXCLUSIVE downloadable content that is sure to expand the gaming experience for the gamers on the 360 side of the fence. Wether it’s a GTA IV version of Vice City stories or even a few extra missions is yet to be clarified it better be as epic as the price MS paid for it.
Playstations Saving Grace’s
Even though we predict that the Xbox 360 version of the game will be best from launch. The Playstation 3 has a chance to equal the advantages of the Xbox 360. Sony could one day decide to launch a new version of the PSN that has features that are similar to the 360’s Xbox Live assets. Home is also sure to play a major role in the future. Maybe take your Home character into IV’s multiplayer modes ? And also, as mentioned above, the custom soundtrack system that Rockstar made will likely sneak its way into GTA IV from day one of the games release or maybe as a downloadable extra.
Almost made the list The Xbox 360 systems Soundtrack - Anyone that owns an Xbox 360 will know that it sounds like you’re vacuming a vacum when you’re playing games. This excessive noise coutusy of the DVD drive will allow us to know when our younger siblings are trying to turn on our consoles in order to play the greatness that will be GTA IV. No more messed up game saves for us then.
RRoD - Keeps players on their toes when it comes to saving 100hours of gameplay. Creates an "on-the-edge" experience.
