Remember a while back in 2007 when we got news of some sick kid who decided to murder his mother because she took away his copy of Halo 3? Well we’ve just heard that Petric, of Ohio has been denied innocence by judge and is facing a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Petric’s defence team attempted to argue that "The Halo 3 game, in which players shoot invading aliens, had made him insane."
But the judge said that he will reject this due to the fact that Petric had been planning the murder of his parents for weeks. Petric is now being trialled as an adult.
The teens father, Mark, who was shot in the head by his son but survived described what happened the night of the incident.
"His son came into the room and asked: "Would you guys close your eyes? I have a surprise for you."
He said that he expected a pleasant surprise. Then his head went numb from the gunshot.
Apparently, Microsoft are declining to comment apart from releasing this statement: "We are aware of the situation and it is a tragic case."
However, we, personally do not believe that Halo was the reason for the murder, as the judge said, Petric had been planning the murder for weeks. We think that the lawyers were just attempting to pin this one as another "Video games drove me crazy" incident. Which is pretty sad if you ask us.
